 The Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce will host its 81st Annual Banquet on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center from 6 to 9 p.m.
More than 500 guests are expected for this, the Chamber's largest event of the year. The evening will commence at 6 p.m. for a social hour with the presentations beginning at 7 p.m. In addition to the presentation of officers and Board of Directors for 2010, the Small and Large Businesses of the Year will be awarded and the recipient of the Teenager of the Year Award will be recognized. Additionally, the Terrebonne Parish Most Useful Citizen will be unveiled during the evening's festivities.
Noted political columnist and author John Maginnis will keynote the event. Maginnis, who has been writing about Louisiana politics since 1972, publishes the LaPolitics Fax Weekly, a newsletter delivered by fax machine and e-mail. The independent journalist also writes a weekly syndicated column that appears in 20 daily and weekly newspapers around the state. Maginnis is the author of two books on Louisiana politics--The Last Hayride in 1984 and Cross to Bear in 1992--and he frequently comments on Louisiana politics for the national media. In 2000, the Baton Rouge native was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the LSU Manship School of Communications.
