Grainger Awards Scholarships to Fletcher Students - 12/15/2009 -

Grainger, a local distributor of facilities maintenance supplies, awarded a Grainger Tools for Tomorrow scholarship to Fletcher Technical Community College (Fletcher) students Brandon Chauvin and Matthew Verdin Jr., during a presentation at the Houma campus.

The Grainger Tools for Tomorrow® scholarship program awards $2,000 scholarships to full-time students entering their second year of a technical education curriculum. Upon graduation the program recognizes the student’s achievement with a Westward® tool kit to help them successfully launch their careers.

"Grainger has a strong commitment to technical education and students pursuing careers in the trades," said Donald Alphonso, manager of Grainger’s branch in Houma. "We feel that one of the best ways to invest in the community is to contribute to the education of our future tradesmen and women."

"It is through the generosity of industry partners such as Grainger that Fletcher can continue to provide the necessary training and career opportunities while addressing the workforce needs our community."
