New Orleans Artist to make Houma Debut at Southdown Plantation - 2/2/2010 -

Anne Cicero will showcase her original acrylic artwork depicting Louisiana waterways, marshes and coastal areas in an opening reception Sunday, Feb. 21 from 2-4 p.m. at Southdown Plantation and Museum.

Entitled "Impressions: Contemporary Landscape Paintings,” the exhibit will feature acrylic paintings that "represent the feeling of timeless beauty, peace and quiet drama inherent in the Louisiana landscape,” Cicero said.

Cicero believes that the atmosphere portrayed in her artwork "resonates with energy, reconciles the imaginary with the real and represents [her] fascination with the sacred beauty of nature.”

Cicero has earned many honors for her artwork and has been featured in numerous Louisiana art galleries. She has worked as a Graphic Artist, Illustrator, Costumer and Stylist in print advertising and film productions for many years.

The reception is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The exhibit will be on display until April 10. The artwork can be viewed Tuesday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is $2 to see the exhibit only. To take a full tour of Southdown Plantation, which includes the artwork, is $6.

The exhibit is hosted by the Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society. Southdown Plantation is located at 1208 Museum Drive in Houma. Please call 985-851-0154 for more information.
