ALISA DEROCHE, RN, NAMED TGMC DAISY AWARD RECIPIENT - Wednesday, October 12, 2011

Alisa Deroche, RN in the Medical Surgical Unit at Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has been honored with "The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.” Deroche has been a part of the TGMC family for three years.

This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. Mark Barnes and his family founded the award in 1999, and Terrebonne General Medical Center joins 708-other medical facilities honoring their nurses with this special award.

"When I walked through the door and saw my parents, grandparents, husband and close family and friends I was quiet surprised and had no clue as to what was going on. I was then notified that I had been chosen to receive the Daisy Award and was very honored and blown away to have been selected. Having my support system there to experience this with me means the world to me. Being a nurse takes a lot of hard work and dedication and receiving this award only reassures me that I am right where I need to be and need to continue to work towards providing exceptional healthcare with compassion,” said Deroche.

This is one initiative of The DAISY Foundation, whose overall goal is to help fight diseases of the immune system. Additionally, DAISY has programs to help fund research to improve treatment and ultimately cure Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), contribute to bone marrow and blood drives and provide support for ITP patients and their families.
