Are you prepared? - Wednesday, July 11, 2012
The Terrebonne Parish Economic Development Authority (TEDA) is hosting the Emergency Generator Capacity Program which supports, promotes, and enhances Terrebonne Parish's commitment to disaster recovery.

The purpose of this program is to assist with the cost of the installation of a commercial generator transfer switch for businesses that provide goods and services immediately after a disaster event. Grants awarded will range from $1,500 to $3,000.

Companies that are eligible for this grant include pharmacies, grocery stores, gas stations, and ice producers. Each business must meet specific criteria to receive funding: For example, the business must return to operations within 24 hours of the post-disaster event, must use TEDA-approved providers, and must be a target industry which is classified as Tier 1 post-emergency business.

The program was created because it is essential that critical businesses become prepared to operate before a disaster occurs in order to respond quickly when residents return to the community.
