Public Schools

The Terrebonne Parish Public School System consists of thirty-six (36) school sites, including four high schools; three junior high schools; twenty-five elementary and middle schools; a career and technical high school; a school for exceptional children; an alternative school program, and an adult education center.

There are over 18,000 students enrolled in the Terrebonne Parish Public School System and 1,200 qualified teachers. Valuable interaction, information, and feedback are provided through active parent-teacher organizations throughout our public-school system. Terrebonne Parish Public School System is the largest employer in the Parish.

Private Schools

Terrebonne Parish also has nine private, nonpublic primary and secondary schools with a total enrollment of just over 4,000 students. These quality institutions provide an excellent alternative to public education.

Higher Education

Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, provides more than 60 accredited degree programs and learning experiences that prepare its 6,000-plus students for regional and global professions.

Fletcher Technical Community College is an open-admission, two-year public institution of higher education dedicated to offering high-quality technical and academic programs to the community of South Louisiana in order to prepare individuals for employment, career advancement, and lifelong learning. Students can earn a degree, diploma, or certificate in two years or less depending on the program. Fletcher has two educational locations in Terrebonne Parish: 1407 Highway 311, Schriever, and 1425 Tiger Drive, Thibodaux. Learning Bridge Career Institute (LBCI) takes pride in offering a curriculum with real-world experience and community practices. They offer a wide range of diverse courses that are very applicable in today’s rapidly changing world. LBCI’s mission is to aid to the success of communities by providing marketable skills to individuals who are seeking employment opportunities and to individuals who are seeking to enhance their employment opportunities. Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) LUMCON is a statewide academic endeavor operating out of the DeFelice Marine Center. LUMCON’s goal is to focus on and strengthen the effectiveness of foundational marine science needed to address the environmental and socio-economic challenges facing Louisiana and the nation. The vision of LUMCON is to connect universities through stronger partnerships, transform marine science and conservation in impactful and profound ways, and enrich the community through education and outreach initiatives.
