Houma Area Convention and Visitors Bureau


The Houma Area Convention & Visitors Bureau promotes tourism in Terrebonne Parish. They operate the Welcome Center which features countless brochures and tour guides.



Houma-Terrebonne Airport and Industrial Park


The Houma-Terrebonne Airport is the southernmost latitude general aviation airport in the country. There are over 1,800 acres- 800 acres for aircraft maintenance and operations and 1,000 leasable acreage.



I-49 International Coalition


“The I-49 International Coalition was organized in December, 2002, joining groups in Louisiana, Arkansas and Missouri (each promoting its local unfinished section of I-49), to collectively promote completion of the entire High Priority Corridor from Kansas City to New Orleans. The Coalition included “International” in its name because Interstate 29 already exists from Kansas City to Winnipeg, Canada, and completing I-49 from Kansas City to New Orleans will create a 1,700-mile uninterrupted Interstate Trade Corridor from Canada through the heart of America to New Orleans – – and, through the Port System of Louisiana, to Central/ South America and points beyond through the expanding Panama Canal.”

Morganza Action Coalition


The Morganza-to-the-Gulf Hurricane Protection System is a levee, lock, and floodgate system designed to provide 100-year, Category 3 storm surge protection to more than 150,000 Americans living in coastal Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes (60 miles southwest of New Orleans) as well as over 1,700 square miles of fresh and saltwater marsh.

The Port of Terrebonne’s strategic location gives it a competitive advantage versus other medium and shallow draft ports in Louisiana not only for capturing a significant share of cargo to be generated by growing Latin American trade flows, but in distributing these cargoes throughout the rest of the U.S. via the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and connecting waterways.

“Restore or Retreat (ROR) is a non-profit coastal advocacy group created by coastal Louisiana residents and stakeholders who recognize that the Barataria and Terrebonne basins are the two most rapidly eroding estuaries on earth, and that this erosion represents an economic and ecological crisis. With a growing membership of over 250 businesses and individuals, ROR seeks to identify and expedite the implementation of aggressive, large-scale restoration projects to protect this irreplaceable region.”

South Central Industrial Association (SCIA) was established in April 1997 as a network for industrial businesses in the tri-parish area including Terrebonne, Lafourche and St. Mary parishes.

South Central Planning & Development Commission


SCPDC is one of the eight regional planning commissions in Louisiana. It was created in 1973 by Executive Order No. 27 of Governor E. Edwards and established in 1978 by State Act 472 to facilitate intergovernmental cooperation and harmonious coordination of the state, federal and local planning & development programs for the solutions and resolutions of economic, social, physical, and governmental problems of the state and its citizens by providing for the creation and recognition of regional planning and development commissions.
